  2. Oh no. That's terrible. I was aware he was ill but never asked him what or how...I now understand what must have caught up with him and it is a chilling reminder of realities.

I'd known Paul since about 2000 when we met through working the night shift. We never worked together but we often would go to the same places when we finished , usually Heaven...but often Pleasuredrome. I have some wonderful memories of him at Pleasuredrome pissing about and driving the staff crazy. One evening we just ran around the various underpasses near Charing Cross, howling.

In September 2001 he stayed at my flat in Whitechapel for a few weeks while he was in between houses... I remember clearly us getting woken up at midday (very early for us) on the day of 9/11 by a scared and confused lodger and then us sitting on the living room floor all day, me and him, watching the planes crashing into the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

We stopped doing the same work sometime in 2002 and I gradually developed my phobia of the West End. As time went by we saw less and less of each other but I would still hear about his antics and laugh with him from a distance...but those stories began to be replaced with news of how sick he was feeling. I had no idea he was so ill, I just didn't like to spoil the occasional moments I did speak with him by talking about sickness.

Paul was a very naughty boy. Mischievous and with a daring, dangerous sense of humour. His will be sorely missed... this news has come as quite a shock.

Rest in Peace my friend xxxx

  3. I had only met Paul briefly a few times, he was more a friend of friends than an actual acquaintance, but I've been reading his blog and the strength of spirit and positivity through such a difficult time from both him and the people supporting him has amazed me.

Rest in peace Paul and my ultimate respect to those close to him. Inspirational. x

  5. I did not know Paul, but came across his writing via the Guardian. Paul was a very courageous person to be so open about his illness. He always made me smile when signing off from the most awful, heartbreaking posts.

May you finally rest in peace or at least have a damn good party wherever you are. x

  7. I only know of Paul's story through one of his dear friends and never had the opportunity to bask in this amazing energy and humor that he conveys in his writing. His creativity and courage are inspiring. He is on to other fantastic adventures in the universe now, he will always walk with angels... RIP
